Perhaps a textured surface for one and smooth for the other.<br /><br />Symbols could be printed on the pieces to aid the sighted.<br /><br />The rook could be a plus sign denoting its move like the bishop.<br /><br />The knight could be just 8 dots denoting the octagon of its move.
